On Sunday 8th March, Suncorp Group will celebrate International Women’s Day, by recognising the incredible achievements of women.

2020’s theme, #EachForEqual, highlights the global benefit of gender equality; that an equal world is an enabled world.

Gender equity doesn’t only benefit women, it is essential for economies and communities to thrive.

Workplace gender equality is achieved when people can access the same rewards, resources and opportunities regardless of their gender.

At Suncorp, we are incredibly proud to be an industry leader in gender equality, recently being acknowledged as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the seventh year in a row.

We recognise that gender equality is only achieved by pledging an ongoing commitment to our people, and in 2019, we reached a new benchmark with 51% of leadership positions in the business being held by women.

At Suncorp we understand we will achieve our best when our workforce represents the diverse, talented and passionate communities in which we live.

Our goal is to continue to strive for gender equality by supporting and celebrating women right across our business community.

##EachForEqual

Meet Suncorp Group’s incredible female workforce. This year’s theme, #EachForEqual, campaigns that an equal world is an enabled world; something here at Suncorp we proudly support.

We asked each representative what 'Each For Equal' means to them this International Women's Day, how gender equality is best realised in the modern workplace, and how far female representation has come.

Pooja Arora

Portfolio Manager Core Banking Applications Banking & Wealth Technology

"Be brave, be courageous. The magic happens when you’re outside your comfort zone."

Alana Bailey

CFO Corporate Services

"It means having equal opportunity. I think pay is certainly an aspect, but it’s also about providing the opportunities for women and men as they come through the ranks. We find that the level of women tends to thin out the more senior the role, so I think it’s important to provide opportunity at all levels throughout individual careers."

Aisling Lane

PX Consultant

“I think seeing a more gender equalled environment makes me feel like I can be a leader at work. More and more it matters who you are as a person, not your gender.”

Susannah Boyd

Governance Manager, PX

"A gender equal workplace is recognising people’s talent and abilities; what they bring to the table irrelevant of gender, political or economic status, cultural background or ethnicity. Celebrating people’s achievements for who they are."

Thy Huynh

Channels Advisor, Digital Content & Corporate Channels

Women can bring another level of empathy to the workplace; a different dynamic. Having 51% of women in leadership roles only adds to why Suncorp is such a great place to work.

Annemie Coetzer

Senior Analyst
Data Science & Analytics

"Take pride in what you do, in both a work and personal perspective. If you have a great commitment in both, it just shows in everything you do and that will really give you that edge."

Samantha Rush

Executive Manager, IFRS 17 Design and Delivery

"Some of the changes that I’ve seen since I started my career are the introduction of targets around equality and I think just the awareness of bias has been really important."

Narelle Tusa

Digital Customer Specialist, Financial Crime Detection

"Being a part of a corporation that has 51% of females in leadership roles is incredibly empowering. It pushes me to be my best every day and makes me aspire to that level of leadership."

Manisha Verma

Change Manager, People Experience (PX)

"For me, gender equality in the workforce means we’re all accepted, that we’re all cared for, and that we’re all encouraged to bring our truest selves to work. That is equality to me."
