A cyclone, flooding and severe storms impact the east coast of Australia. Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston travels to Cairns to meet with teams on the ground while Suncorp bolsters its response to help progress claims faster.

Suncorp appoints Bernadette Norrie as Customer Advocate. “My job is to make sure our customers’ voices are heard at the decision-making table,” she said.

Suncorp reassures Queensland customers in Tropical Cyclone Kirrily’s path that dedicated teams are ready to support. Customer Support Teams are on hand to help arrange emergency repairs and purchases, and organise temporary accommodation. Tropical cyclone Kirrily made landfall north west of Townsville on 25 January.

Suncorp executives appear before the parliamentary inquiry into insurer's responses to the 2022 major floods claims.

Suncorp supports the world-first Bushfire Resilience Rating app, a new initiative that incorporates premium reductions for eligible customers who complete their ‘Bushfire resilience rating’ assessment and receive a certified rating of 3 stars and above.

Suncorp joins six other insurance giants to celebrate a year of LiiFT – Leaders in Insurance for Tomorrow – a new mentoring program that aims to create greater participation of women in executive positions in the insurance industry.

Suncorp responds to the impacts of widespread rain and flooding in New South Wales. Suncorp and brands AAMI, GIO and APIA received about 2700 claims in the first week, with more than 2100 of those for homes.

Suncorp welcomes a fleet of five custom-designed Mobile Disaster Response Hubs to the team, to enhance support for customers impacted by natural hazards. The hubs are built to be self-sufficient and resilient in harsh disaster conditions with off-road capabilities, offering a safe and comfortable space for customers to talk to specialist Suncorp teams, and allow Suncorp to be on the ground sooner, and stay for longer.

Suncorp invests in North Queensland and announces a partnership with the North Queensland Cowboys, and the location of a new office hub in Townsville, creating jobs for an extra 120 people in the region.
